To get rid of this code, you need to remove it from that EXE file. so someone receiving it does not need to have WinRAR, or some other program capable of getting inside them. Therefore, if you try to run an OS, which loads and unloads most stuff to the disk dynamically, while reading a large file, processing it (which can use quite a bit of your CPU, but I packed a 20GB folder with 7-zip on my 3770k (on ultra compression) without too much of a performance hit), and writing it back to the same disk, the OS doesn't get enough drive time to read and write to the disk whenever it wants. People use it because they don’t like WinZip. It’s the very reason for self-extracting archives such as WinRAR’s EXE files. Or you could also look out for apps such as 7ZIP that also does this job quite effectively. ![]() So it is recommended that you try out your extracting or compression tasks during this time frame. Yeah the green drives aren't designed for running an OS (they're more for use as a storage drive), so their read/write rate is lower than most drives (eg. Open Default Programs by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Default Programs. Scroll to the WinRAR app, right-click on it, and select Uninstall.
